ABOUT US
In basketball, each player must be a creator. Players must be able to create opportunities. Players must be able to create driving lanes and create paths. Players must be able to create a shot. Players must be able to do all of this not just for themselves, but for others as well. Most importantly, players must understand that they must create their future on and off the court. Creating is an action that begins in the mind and then translates to reality. This mentality is the beginning. A player’s mentality shapes their vision. The vision is an athletic, skilled player without any holes in their game, and can play any style in any role. This is what we want all of our players to understand. Who are we? We are creators.
Coaches
Coaches Taylor Statham, Alec Berryman and Travis Divita are the head coaches of the program. Coach Statham is a current professional basketball players overseas and has been training players for years. Coach Divita is a former college basketball player with multiple professional basketball contract offers overseas and specializes in movement mechanics. Coach Alec Berryman is also a former collegiate basketball player and spent time playing in Spain. Collectively, this program has every component to functionally run an organization at the highest level. From the coaching/training of basketball to exercise science aspects, to physical therapy/rehab/preventative maintenance- it is all covered!
Practices
We currently practice on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Sundays and Tuesdays are team practices at the Santa Clarita Athletic Club. Thursdays are strength and conditioning days primarily at Central Park followed up by skill work on the outdoor courts. The schedule is as follows:
Athletic Club
Sunday
1-45-5:45pm (See calendar for breakdown of age groups)
Tuesday
4-7pm (See calendar for breakdown of age groups)
Central Park – Thursday
6 – 8:30pm
In regards to our Strength and Conditioning program, Coach Divita majored in Kinesiology with Physical Therapy Emphasis in college and also received his Personal Training Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and it all breaks down to movement mechanics. If one is not moving correctly then that means their muscles will not be absorbing forces properly. If one’s muscles are not absorbing forces, then of course, their joints will. This education will be provided to your players to increase athleticism and also reduce the risk of injury. Specifically, those nagging injuries like tendonitis/tendinosis. Our goal is to teach the fundamental movement mechanics or the human body to all of our players to keep them ahead of the curve.
Games/Tournaments
We will be participating in 1-2 tournaments per month in Orange County, Los Angeles County, or Ventura County. We may possibly plan trips far in advance if parents are open to playing tournaments in Las Vegas, San Diego, or San Francisco. We also set up scrimmages during the week whenever possible with other local organizations in order to keep the players playing as much as possible.
We have also partnered with MAK Media Productions in order to film all of our tournaments. We will be releasing highlight films of our teams/players after every tournament. There are sample videos of this on the video page. Also, we will be sending out raw game film with our coaches breaking down the game via private link on YouTube. This greatly speeds up the learning process for our players by being able to see the positives and negatives in games they play. Please see a sample video here.
